The Jia Lab is a newly formed research group at the University of South Florida. As the lab manager and undergraduate supergroup leader, I’ve helped facilitate people in this lab from its founding. The largest hurdle for any lab is securing funding, and this is exacerbated by us being fresh on the block. Securing a volunteer scholarship ensures I can be present at this critical first meeting. It is much easier and efficient to manage people and delegate tasks when I can actually assess the situation in person, which is why I’m requesting a volunteer scholarship.
